The question, though - it crystalizes something nagging in the back of Murderbot's brain and threat assessment. The cuts on its palms throb without any ability to turn down the pain sensors, and it reactivates the energy weapons in its forearms as it looks to the forest around them, paranoia sparking.

Because the obvious answer to that question is; someone or something that wants whatever's coming through this area to be trapped. "Hold still."
