A thought occurs to them, causing them to open their eyes again. "It is not so much that cold is inflicted, as it is that we need more warmth. ... I promise not to tear up the upholstery."

And, several moments later, wrestling with some internal conflict (with much ear twitching to go with it), they add: "I believe this form radiates warmth to an acceptable degree. I am willing to let you touch it, if that is something that interests you. As long as you do it where I can see."

At another time, they will absolutely chalk this up to too much Husk exposure or something. But for now, it simply seems pragmatic. And possibly helpful.
