[Jayce is struck by the zolom with a sickening crunch. Serph does not turn to see his condition despite the horrid sounds of bone being forced to move in unnatural ways; he cannot afford the distraction when there's yet another monster horning in.
He has been fighting, hunting these creatures since their arrival in the grasslands; he knows well what they're capable of... and what weaknesses they have. He doesn't have the luxury of back up, so he has no choice but to take risks so he can eliminate every monstrous reinforcement with brutal efficiency.
As he swallows the liver, flesh knits back together and the burn that would have rendered his hand unusable instead rapidly fades away. And that's all he time he has to devour as the bull gorgon charges towards Jayce. But Serph is immediately in the path between them, hands wrapped around its horns as his clawed feet slide back a few inches from meeting the impact of the bull's charge before it can trample Jayce. He's well aware of the danger in the creature's breath, so he lets out his own chilling breath that will rapidly encase the creature in ice if it doesn't rethink its attack.
The Apypos corpse still remains largely uneaten, its belly carved open and entrails half spilled upon the ground.]
