[ Ruby isn't the only one looking a little different right now. Shadow's sprouted a pair of wings since the two of them last spoke. They're spread out behind him as he sits near the edge of the oasis, black feathers shining with crimson iridescence in the sunlight. He was still getting used to them—they had torn painfully from his back just a few hours ago, after all—but this was a good way to get used to them in small amounts. Stretching out and tilting the 'arms' of each wing, fanning out the primary feathers and fluffing up the coverts so that the sun and wind could both help them dry off. He's just about done.
Which is about when Ruby cannonballs into the oasis, making such a huge splash that Shadow is left absolutely drenched in the wake of it. He simply stares at the epicenter of her landing, water dripping off his fur, ears, and (of course) he until recently almost completely dry wings.
Ruby pops back up, and Shadow throws himself at her. He doesn't really think before he goes, and he doesn't really have a plan. He just lands on her shoulders and grabs onto her head, steadying himself with several huge sweeps of his wings. ]
