Serph steps into the land of rain and ruin. When he next turns to V, the brand upon Serph's face is missing and the world of light and that black sun melts away.
They stand upon a vast wasteland, an expanse of flat concrete dotted with rubble. But if one were to look more carefully at the ground, behind Serph are stairs down into what looks to be a crack in the earth. But the crack is clearly artificially created, unnaturally clean lines shearing the concrete into a definitive shape. And below are buildings, faintly lit by orange light. Beside Serph is a grey flag planted in a stump of a pillar, the same bright orange splashed across his chest marking the flag.
Serph's voice has never been the most expressive even in the best of times, but somehow it's even more monotonous than usual, gaze cool and calculating. Where in their earlier interactions, Serph had always willingly helped V without question, now...
"Do you join the Embryon?"
