Leo looks up when Donnie comes over, twisting around so they're facing each other. He's practically holding his breath at first, not sure what's about to happen.
Then Donnie gives him half of a candy bar, and even with all the bad feelings swirling around, there's that fondness and love that rises out of it again. Donnie is trying. Leo appreciates that. Even if he's not sure he deserves it right now.
He reaches over and takes the candy bar, pushing it out of the wrapper and directly into his mouth. He chews and swallows, trying not to stare at Donnie while he does it.
"Thanks," he says after his mouth is empty again. At least he waited for once.
