So is Hereward comparable to a demon? It's a curious question. He certainly has the dark coloration that one would expect of a demonic entity, to say nothing of his curse skills...

"Whatever the case, it's not a terrible boon. I'd certainly rather not be reduced to stone, even if this is a dream."

And surely it must be. That's the only reasonable explanation...
