[ jayce is now accutely aware of how hungry he still is. famished, actually. he doesn't care about the fact that the boy is real or apparition, only that he is solid, leaking and flesh. bone. the pop from his spine sounds a second time, and jayce feels a surge that is greater than he could contain. it boils his skin, melts it to rot and the tattered clothes that cover him. jayce convulses, writhes and paws at his face with painful strain in each flexed finger— his face, that for the record, seems to give way to horribly splitting, cracking bone.
