SecUnit has biological parts. Those can be turned into nutrients for some other form of life. And the metal parts can be used to shelter others, perhaps, or scavenged by some future generation for tools or prosthetics of their own. Jack is optimistic.

But knowing you will sustain others after death is a comfort." He flips his tails lightly. "Sometimes that sustenance is not just physical. Memories sustain us. So does knowledge. If I teach someone how to mend their own clothes or read a book, or provided them with something they need... I have sustained them for the future, as well."
