It's true. And Zack may even be surprised that Vincent has as many people to care about as he does; at least close enough to come help when he's called upon whether or not he'd give the goth loner impression of kicking and screaming because of it.

But this one was particularly deep. Even as he started to move forward again, this failure had barely even begun to heal.

Vincent doesn't nod or say anything to the sentiments which the other man offers. There is a moment's shift of his gaze as though that would be enough or even be easily seen as indicator that he acknowledges it happened at all.

Maybe it's an expression of curiosity or just acknowledgement that someone else knows.

Many drops of rain have followed the scattering on the surface. Which means that a drizzle is now falling on the two men though Vincent doesn't look like he's going to move. The distortion of the image, at least for the time, has him take a break though and it's now that he offers something he hasn't before.
