"We met. I heard a little about you. You should know who Tifa is. And Sephiroth."
It's clear he doesn't mean their time here in Revan for those other two. It may sound a bit presumptuous to expect Zack has met Tifa before. But it was a reasonable guess; and it would help understand how much shared history Zack has experienced.
