"Maybe," Jack says, thinking back uncomfortably to the experience. "They were kind of like robots? There were these devices that came out of the walls and tried to tie up and cage anyone with monster traits." He gestures to his tails sheepishly. "They didn't like me much. I don't know what controlled them but given the visions people seem to be having in the hospital of the history of this place, they were trying to contain the monster traits in people, so it was probably mechanical more than magical."
